CaMPiNG + 4-WhEeLER's = OuR tWO DaYS & OnE NiGHT AwaY!

So this weekend was a first for me and Brandon... My mom took the boys and we went camping with the 4-wheelers to celebrate my birthday. Now I realize that most of you girls out there would have rather gone to a city and be able to shop and go out to a nice dinner, which is one of those things we don't get to do around here much. However I can't think of anything I like more than fry'n a steak and eating a sandwich while looking at what I'm about to show you. I realized after this weekend that if I ever moved I would miss this almost too much!
This was on the Piute trail on Saturday. We went knowing it was washed out last year, but we were hoping someone had built up the trail so it would be passable....

This is a view off of the top looking back towards the highway.

Here's us all geared up on top with no where left to go...

This is why there is no where to go... We were looking at it and noticed that someone has been through it, however we had my parents 4-wheelers and decided that they might not like it if we went and got stuck....

So we crossed the road and went over to the small loop of Jacob's chair... Brandon took this picture of what he called a man wearing a hat... Jacob's chair is above him...

Just a picture on the ride on Jacobs Chair

Now here's where it gets exciting....
So we decided on Sunday that we wanted to "find" a way down to Lake Powell... Well we packed up and drove over to Red Canyon which is the back side to Piute Pass. It was a long ride down the road before you ran into the trail over to Piute, we heard if you kept going on the road you would eventually cross the river bed and could follow the river bed down to the lake...
This is where we stopped because we ran into a Natural Hot Spring and the water was bubbling, it was stinky, but pretty.

We got off the 4-wheelers and started hiking at that point, these are some of our pictures...

We had to cross the creek several times... I fell in it! So now I'm cleaning my hands off from the mud that I face planted in... The water was probably 80 degree's! OH so nice!

Here's my sweetie! Look how green it was...

So it was getting late and we decided it was time to get out.... Well we were splashing through every mud hole we could. Here's a nice shot of the mud that Brandon was collecting on his face!

I'm in a arch..... We also thought this was a cool arch in the middle of the river bed....

So the moral of the story!
Although the Lake is very low, we were able to drive the 4-wheelers down this canyon which got us about a mile past high water mark. We stopped at the natural hot spring because honestly it got a bit soupy even with us hiking another mile down we almost lost our shoe's in the muck several times before we turned around. We think we were almost to the lake there was some bare foot prints coming up the canyon that looked like someone tried walking in the muck and couldn't make it to far, so the lake probably recently went down... Either way it was so totally awesome that I can't wait to do it again! Its a good enough road that you could take a jeep down it, however I wouldn't want to be anywhere near this canyon while its raining. Its 30 miles down to where we stopped I could only imagine what a flash flood would be like in it!
