Portland Zoo

Fun times at the Portland Zoo. So I finally convinced Brandon that we needed to do something other than to go fishing on a weekend. I mentioned the Zoo and I swear he looked at every other activity you could do on the internet before finally (kind of) deciding to go to the zoo. We started out driving in the general direction, but until we arrived I'm still not sure he was convenience it was a good idea. Need less to say of course it was raining and unlike other States I've lived in rain is no big deal, people we packing themselves and their kids into the zoo. It was a grand ol' time and the kids really liked it to. At the end of the visit we decided to catch a train into downtown Portland and ended up eating at a place called the Bridge Cafe, which is exactly the same thing as Paradise Bakery in Utah. Same cookies and all, so yummy! Anyway it was really fun. Found out that if you buy a season pass it was tax deductible so of course Brandon jumped on that one. We figure it is a good activity around here and only an hour drive. After living in Southern Utah I drove an hour just to get groceries so its kind of nice that now I do it for entertainment rather than a need.

Anywho, I think I really need to invest in an umbrella because I don't actually own one amazingly enough and I live in the Pacific Northwest which honestly it rains here almost every single day. Maybe eventually I'll get around to getting one. Until then guess I'll just keep getting caught in the rain!

Enjoy some of our photos!

The wonderus world of us....

You'd think by the things I blog that we are always doing something or going some where, but really were not. Its very spread out between outings. But we do like to have fun. Recently we attempted fishing again with of course no luck, but the boys are getting really good at casting their fishing poles. So maybe by the time we get into the season they might not need so much help.

We also took a trip out to South Beach and stayed in a yurt for a weekend. It was lots of fun exploring the coast and hiking down the trails with the kids, here is some of the beautiful places we saw on our adventure.

The boys in the tunnel hugging each other... This is a rarity right now... Seems like fighting is in.

The boys really wanted to go down on this beach, but it was high tide and the waves were wicked big and crashing in hard and we wouldn't let them.. They were pissed to say the least, but hey they lived...

Beautiful Austin and his mischievous look... Gotta wonder what he's thinking..

Mr. Gavin Grumpy Gills Ipson... He just doesn't like to smile for the camera.

Brandon has been working hard and has been gone most of the time. He leaves early and comes home late. I'm very grateful that he has a job and have enjoyed the time with the boys, even if they drive me nuts. I'd rather be with them then anywhere else (most the time)... Well hopefully we'll have another adventure soon. But we will see.

Exploration time!

So its been on again off again raining here, which in comparison to back home where I read the other day they got nine inches of snow I'd say I'm pretty happy that I can walk outside with out my coat on and not freeze. Its just lovely, even if it happens to be raining, at least its not cold!

So we have been doing a little exploration thanks to a new friend that has given me ideas of places to go here. So thanks Brenda! Who now lives in Monticello, enjoy that snow! I don't miss it at all!!!

So we went on this hike a very easy hike to Shellburg Falls, its close to us only about a 15 minute drive and then a short hike (if you only hike to the first set of falls). This hike is one that I can't wait to take my sister on when they come to visit, its one that even Phil could handle! So Melissa be prepared, you and Phil and the kids are going to hike this one! It was so pretty and lucky us it didn't even rain!

Some of the picture's below have a little snow in them, because we went up to Detroit Dam to do a little fishing and exploring, it was just beautiful! I'm sure enjoying the nature around here and can't wait to explore more.
